The female vocal ensemble was established in January, 2010. The members of the ensemble have technical educations and experience singing with the National Academic Cappella of National Technical University of Ukraine “KPI.”  The ensembles repertoire is diverse, ranging from classical pieces, sacred music, and contemporary arrangements of Ukrainian folk music to popular songs and world choral music.

The debut of “Making waves” took place in April, 2010 on the stage of L’viv Organ Hall with Francis Poulenc “Le petite fille sage” from “Petit voix”. During its three years of existence “Making waves” has become the winner of multiple choral and vocal competitions among which is “Art-premiere” (Kharkiv, I place, 2011), “Ukrainian vocal competition named after B. Liatoshinsky” (Kiev, II place, 2011) and “Singing world” (Saint-Petersburg, I place, 2012). In 2013 a debut disc “Sing for joy” was released.

Viktoriia Vitrenko, is the conductor of “Making waves” and has distinguished herself as winner of the Fifth Ukrainian Choral Conducting Competition in Kiev, 2012. She was also awarded during the Ukrainian and European Youth Vocal Competitions. Since 2013, she continues her conducting education at the Musical Academy of Stuttgart, Germany.

“Making waves” is representative of a musical cultural development among the Ukrainian youth and comes from Kiev. Kiev is the capital and the largest city of Ukraine, located in the north central part of the country on the Dnieper River. Kiev is an important industrial, scientific, educational, and cultural centre of Eastern Europe.
