The female youth choir Oriana is an amateur choir based at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Odessa, and has existed since 2008. Folk songs, classical choral works and sacred music are included in the choir’s repertoire. Over the years Oriana has taken part in more than twenty performances.

Awards:

  • 2008 - International Competition “Constellation of the Sea”, first prize
  • 2009 - International Competition "South Palmira", first prize
  • 2010 - Seventh Ukrainian festival "Dnepr Easter Hymns", first prize

Odessa is a major tourist, cultural and industrial center in southern Ukraine, with a population of one million people. It was founded in 1794 by Empress Catherine II. There are outstanding architectural monuments, including one of the most beautiful opera houses in Europe, and the Potemkin Stairs. Odessa is called the “Paris of the Black Sea” and “South Palmira”. Odessa is also a city of musicians, artists and theater-goers. Celebrities such as Alexander Pushkin, Ivan Aivazovsky, D. Oistrakh, S. Richter and others have worked in Odessa. Odessa’s people are cheerful, with a special sense of humor.
